Security finally has a seat at the table! CISO’s, reporting directly to the CEO, are becoming common place as businesses realize that security is not a ‘nice to have” but a requirement. With the uptick in data storage/transmission the risks (customer, reputational, regulatory) of mishandling it is real. To help mitigate these risks companies are implementing a Layered or “Defense in Depth” Security Approach (Firewall’s, ACLs, Encryption, Education Programs) and things like zero trust architecture and shift left are more than just buzzwords.

Not willing to make the investment in people and infrastructure - Create analytics dashboards to triage issues. 
Most SMB or startup companies that are in growth mode don’t worry about making and planning for your future growth/scale is becoming more paramount (don’t fumble through growth)

The future of malicious attacks are moving to AI, so the future of security needs to move to AI. Attackers are using things like LLMs to create undetectable code that present day security monitoring/detection systems have no way of handling. Examples of these new attacks include code that mutates so that there is no discernible pattern for an attack and better information gathering capabilities to create more believable/detailed spear phishing and whaling campaigns.
